Home Additions
More space, seamlessly integrated
Love your neighbourhood but need more room? A well-designed addition gives you the space your family needs without the upheaval of moving — and it should look like it was always there.
We handle the full scope of home additions: architectural design, structural engineering, permits, foundation work, framing, and finishing. Because we manage design and construction together, the transition between old and new is seamless — inside and out.
Addition Types
The right addition for your home
Every home and lot is different. We'll help you determine the best approach based on your goals, your property, and local zoning requirements.
Second Storey Additions
Double your living space without expanding your footprint. We engineer and build second-storey additions that look like they were always part of the home — matching rooflines, siding, and architectural details.
Bump-Out Additions
Sometimes you just need a few extra feet. A bump-out can expand a kitchen, add a mudroom, or create space for a walk-in pantry without the complexity of a full addition.
Sunrooms & Four-Season Rooms
Bring the outside in year-round. We design and build enclosed living spaces with expansive glazing, proper insulation, and HVAC integration so they're comfortable in every season.
Garage Additions
Attached or detached, single or double — we build garages that complement your home's architecture. Many clients add a bonus room above for a home office, studio, or guest suite.
In-Law Suites
Self-contained living spaces with their own entrance, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. We navigate zoning requirements and design suites that provide privacy while keeping family close.
Mudrooms & Entryways
A proper transition space between outside and in. Built-in cubbies, bench seating, coat hooks, and boot storage designed for real Canadian winters.
What to Expect
How we approach additions
Home additions are among the most complex residential projects — they touch foundation, structure, envelope, mechanical systems, and finishes. Getting it right requires careful planning and experienced execution.
We start with a feasibility assessment: reviewing your property survey, zoning setbacks, and existing structure to determine what's possible. From there, we develop architectural plans, coordinate with structural engineers, and handle the full permit process with your municipality.
During construction, we pay special attention to the connection points between old and new — matching rooflines, aligning floor levels, blending siding and trim so the addition feels original to the home.
We also handle interior finishing: drywall, flooring, trim, paint, and any kitchen or bathroom buildouts within the new space. You get a move-in-ready addition, not a shell that needs more work.

Client Stories
What our clients say
“Sara at White Wood Design is truly amazing! She totally transformed our space for the sale of 2 of our properties. Sara has true talent and a key eye for interior design. You won't be disappointed, she brings her A game every time! Jaden her husband is also amazing! He did tile work and deck refacing for us. He went above and beyond by even assisting us with trim work and paint in our bathroom! I would totally trust these 2 for any upcoming projects we have. Thank you both for all your hard work!!!”

“Sara and Jaden are a great team! Their attention to detail and depth of knowledge made me feel so confident and at ease throughout the entire process. Because of them, I was able to flip and sell my first home for a profit. I couldn't recommend this team more!”
