Basement Finishing
Unlock your home's hidden potential
Your basement is the largest untapped space in your home. We transform unfinished and outdated basements into living spaces that feel anything but underground — entertainment areas, guest suites, home offices, and more.
From framing and insulation through flooring, lighting, and custom built-ins, we handle the full scope of basement finishing. One team manages design and construction together so the result is a space you'll actually want to spend time in.
What We Build
Every basement, fully finished
We design basement spaces that serve a real purpose in your home — not just drywalled rooms with pot lights.
Entertainment Spaces
Home theatres, wet bars, games rooms, and lounge areas designed for how your family actually relaxes and entertains. Custom built-ins and thoughtful lighting set the tone.
Guest Suites
A private bedroom, full bathroom, and sitting area that makes guests feel at home — not like they're sleeping in a dungeon. Proper egress windows and ventilation included.
Home Offices
Quiet, separate workspaces with proper lighting, sound insulation, and dedicated electrical circuits. Built for focused, productive work away from the main living areas.
Wet Bars & Kitchenettes
From simple beverage stations to full kitchenettes with sinks, fridges, and cabinetry. We handle the plumbing rough-ins and finishing to code.
Bathrooms Below Grade
Adding a basement bathroom involves unique plumbing considerations — sewage ejector pumps, backflow prevention, and waterproofing. We handle all of it so it's done right.
Sound & Climate Control
Proper insulation for warmth and sound dampening, dedicated HVAC zones, and dehumidification to keep your finished basement comfortable year-round.

Good to Know
Basement finishing considerations
Basements come with unique challenges that above-grade renovations don't: moisture management, limited ceiling height, egress requirements, and plumbing below the sewer line. We address all of these during the planning stage so there are no surprises mid-project.
We start with a thorough assessment of your existing basement — checking for moisture issues, evaluating ceiling height, mapping existing plumbing and electrical, and confirming what's possible within your floor plan and budget.
Every basement we finish includes proper vapour barriers, insulation that meets or exceeds code, and materials chosen specifically for below-grade conditions. We don't cut corners on the things you can't see.
If your basement has moisture issues, we address them first. Waterproofing, drainage, and dehumidification aren't optional — they're the foundation (literally) of a successful basement renovation.
Client Stories
What our clients say
“Sara at White Wood Design is truly amazing! She totally transformed our space for the sale of 2 of our properties. Sara has true talent and a key eye for interior design. You won't be disappointed, she brings her A game every time! Jaden her husband is also amazing! He did tile work and deck refacing for us. He went above and beyond by even assisting us with trim work and paint in our bathroom! I would totally trust these 2 for any upcoming projects we have. Thank you both for all your hard work!!!”
